About Charles R. Hooper

The oldest child in a large U.S. Marine Corps family, when his dad left home for two tours in Vietnam and multiple cruises, his father always shook his hand and told him, “Chuck, you’re the man of the house now.” He took that charge very seriously, and that sense of duty, service and love for others stuck with him throughout his life. Chuck enlisted in the Navy and served in Vietnam’s coastal waters aboard an ammunition ship. After leaving the service he blew out his back from working on oil rigs and a VA doctor told him that he had the choice between disability and going to school. Choosing the latter, Chuck went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in political science from UNC Asheville, where he received both an “Outstanding Scholar” and an “Outstanding Service” award upon graduation. From there he began a career in human service and went on to receive a master’s degree in social work from UNC Chapel Hill.

Heartbroken over the degeneration of the federal government, he tried to figure out what he could do to help. After researching how Washington is broken, it occurred to him that there was something Americans could do. The Constitution’s framers predicted a tyranny of the national government and left the people a means to bypass it and force reforms. That power is found in Article V of the United States Constitution. Chuck spent over a year working on a simple yet powerful message about Article V, targeting it toward any American able to read and who cared about their country. That message is found in his highly acclaimed book, The Next American Revolution: How to Demand Congressional Reform NOW. ForeWord Reviews describes the book as a “concise blueprint for congressional reform,” a Washington Times Reviewer said it’s “a valuable addition to the debate about how to rectify the current Washington vs. the people disconnect” and the Midwest Book Review calls the book “a thoughtful and well-argued urging for reform.” You can learn more about his book by visiting www.itsmycongress.com.
